Unity Park in Logan Square will soon have a new water feature, as the Chicago Park District announced on April 9 that neighbors can vote on updated designs for the park’s splash pad. The park, located at 2636 N. Kimball Ave., is seeking community feedback to help choose a design aimed at making the water playground more accessible for children with limited mobility.

The planned renovation targets children ages 2-12 and includes two options: one featuring four overhead spray features of varying sizes along with other aquatic equipment, and another option offering two overhead sprays plus a curved water structure. Residents are invited to cast their votes online through May 1 or in person at the 35th Ward Office at 2934 N. Milwaukee Ave., unit C.

Irene Tostado, spokesperson for the Chicago Park District, said that after voting closes, “the Park District will submit a permit for the selected option.” She added that permit review and construction bidding will affect the timeline for installation.

While an exact schedule has not been determined yet, officials from the 35th Ward Office say they expect rehabilitation of Unity Park’s splash pad to be completed this year.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by local authorities to ensure recreational spaces are inclusive and meet community needs.
