Uniqlo will reopen its flagship store on the Magnificent Mile on March 23, nearly five years after closing its previous location in the area.

The return of Uniqlo is notable as many retailers left the corridor following the pandemic. The brand closed its 830 N. Michigan Ave. store in 2021 and later announced plans to come back with a new location at 600 N. Michigan Ave., part of an expansion that includes opening eleven stores across the United States.

After more than a year since announcing its return, Uniqlo’s new Mag Mile store will open at 10 a.m. Friday. The opening weekend will feature special giveaways for customers, including free custom Garrett Popcorn tins, popcorn, pastries, and tea from Del Sur Bakery for the first 500 visitors each day. Shoppers spending $99 or more will receive a Chicago-themed tote bag.

The grand opening event will also include traditional Japanese taiko drum performances scheduled throughout Friday morning and afternoon. Customers can access exclusive merchandise designed by local artists such as JC Rivera, Louis De Guzman, Elena Fiorenza, aplasticplant, and collaborations with the Art Institute of Chicago. Early access to the Roger Federer Collection and other discounts exclusive to this location are also being offered.

The new Uniqlo store hours are set for 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sundays.
