Two people shot outside Austin District police station; investigation continues

A man and a woman were shot Thursday evening in the parking lot of a police station on Chicago’s West Side, according to police and media reports.

Authorities said the incident occurred at 6:12 p.m. in the 5700 block of West Madison Street, outside the Austin District police station. CBS2 reported that both victims, a 19-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were in the parking lot when someone opened fire.

Police stated that the man sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg, while the woman was shot in her right leg and buttocks. Both were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in fair condition.

As of Friday morning, police had not provided further updates on the case. The investigation remains ongoing. Alderman Chris Taliaferro’s office declined to comment on the incident.
