Filming for the fifth season of “The Bear,” the FX/Hulu series, is underway in Chicago. In recent weeks, fans have seen pink filming notices posted around Ukrainian Village under the code name “The Fugitive.” Production vehicles were spotted on Cortez Street, according to a report from the Sun-Times. The show has previously used pseudonyms like “Kubelik” and “Four Seasons” during filming.
A local account on X called Filming in Chicago has been tracking shooting locations for the series. Recent activity includes filming at the Green Door Tavern at 678 N. Orleans Ave., which is near Mr. Beef at 666 N. Orleans St., an inspiration for the show.
“The Bear” confirmed its fifth season last summer, shortly after releasing its fourth season. Jeremy Allen White, who stars as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, told Variety that production would begin in January. There is no official release date yet, but new seasons have typically premiered each summer since the show’s debut in June 2022.
Cast members have also been seen around Chicago during production. Abby Elliott and Jamie Lee Curtis visited the Museum of Contemporary Art and viewed the “Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind” exhibit. White visited Cale Darrell vintage clothing showroom at 333 N. Oakley Blvd. Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach were recently photographed at Dove’s Luncheonette in Wicker Park.
Over four seasons, “The Bear” has won 21 Emmy Awards, more than any other show this decade.
Speculation continues about whether season five will be the last for “The Bear.” No official announcement has been made regarding the series’ conclusion. However, Jamie Lee Curtis posted on Instagram: “FINISHED STRONG! Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with.”
All four current seasons are available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
