Pita Inn will open its first Chicago restaurant at Six Corners this winter, according to an April 9 announcement. The new fast-casual Middle Eastern eatery will be part of the redevelopment of the former Sears Auto Center at 4035 North Cicero Avenue.
The opening marks a significant expansion for Pita Inn, which has been a family-owned staple in suburban areas since its founding in Skokie in 1982. The addition is expected to bring more dining options and foot traffic to the Six Corners area as part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the neighborhood.
Hazem Tabahi, vice president of Pita Inn, said in an email that the restaurant is scheduled to open before the end of the year. “Not just any corner. Chicago, we’ll see you this winter!” read a graphic posted by Pita Inn announcing their planned location.
Tabahi said that the new site will seat over 130 people and feature amenities such as an outdoor terrace, specialty coffee bar, shakes and desserts. He added that specialty items like wagyu steak shawarma and shrimp kabob will be offered at this location along with new dishes being developed specifically for Chicago customers.
The broader redevelopment project also includes a Burlington department store and a Wells Fargo branch with drive-up ATM access. Novak Construction is leading development on these three standalone buildings, having previously completed the nearby Six Corners Lofts apartment complex inside another former Sears building. Jake Paschen, executive vice president of development at Novak Construction, said construction began last fall and should finish by year’s end with over 100 parking spots available on site.
“We think it’s going to be great project and a tremendous asset for the community,” Paschen said.
