One man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting at an apartment building in Albany Park on Saturday afternoon, according to police and Ald. Samantha Nugent (39th).

Police reported that the incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. in a basement residence located on the 4900 block of North Harding Avenue. A 24-year-old man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as Lowyn Romero, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

A 29-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his left foot and was taken to Swedish Hospital, where he is listed in fair condition. Another victim, a 34-year-old man who was shot in the right calf, drove himself to Swedish Hospital and is also reported to be in fair condition.

Authorities stated that both surviving victims and witnesses have not cooperated with investigators. Ald. Nugent said in a statement posted on Facebook that police are treating the case as ā€œan isolated gang incident.ā€ No arrests have been made so far.

Roberto Corea, who works at a nearby liquor store, described seeing heavy police presence following the shooting. ā€œI just saw police swarming the area until late at night,ā€ he said. ā€œNo one knows what happened, we’ve just been hearing rumors from people coming in and out. We heard someone died. It’s terrible.ā€

Another neighbor who did not wish to be named recounted being inside an adjacent apartment during the shooting: ā€œI was on my couch inside when I heard a bunch of shooting,ā€ he said. ā€œI don’t know much, but police were here all day.ā€
