NORC at the University of Chicago announced on March 10 the expansion of its Amplify AAPI Advisory Council, adding five new members with backgrounds in research, public policy, philanthropy, communications, marketing, and community advocacy. The appointments are intended to strengthen Amplify AAPI’s mission to elevate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander voices through data-driven research and advocacy.
The newly appointed council members include Patricia Ratulangi, a strategic communications leader; Charitie Dantis-Gayo, corporate vice president at New York Life; Mark Lee Keam, president of the Korean American Institute and former Virginia state lawmaker; Michael S. Spencer, Ballmer Endowed Dean and Professor at the University of Washington School of Social Work; and ToQuyen Doan, senior director of client partnerships at The Stott Group. These individuals bring experience in advancing data-driven narratives, brand growth through consumer understanding, public service leadership, health equity scholarship for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, and fundraising for racial equity initiatives.
They join returning council members Daphne Kwok (Amplify AAPI Chair), Karthick Ramakrishnan (director of the AAPI Data Project), Bill Imada (founder of IW Group), and Qin Gao (professor at Columbia University). The council provides strategic guidance to strengthen research initiatives and inform storytelling efforts that drive change for Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
Alex Chew, AmeriSpeak director and Amplify AAPI lead at NORC said: “We are honored to welcome these extraordinary leaders to our Advisory Council. Their collective expertise will deepen our ability to translate rigorous data into meaningful action, and to ensure that AAPI communities are not just counted but truly heard.”
Amplify AAPI is an initiative dedicated to improving data quality and expanding representation for Asian American and Pacific Islander communities nationwide.
