Mosaics Boutique and Tea, which closed its Mount Greenwood storefront last month after three years in business, is reopening its online store, owner Leslie Chism announced on Mar. 19.

The decision to revive online sales comes after Chism initially closed the shop at 10448 S. Kedzie Ave. to enjoy retirement and travel. After some time away from the business, Chism said she realized how much joy the community and her teas brought into her life.

“When we sold the brick-and-mortar store, I truly thought it meant the end of this chapter,” Chism said in a post on social media. “But after a little time away, I had the space to reflect— and it reminded me just how much joy this community and these teas have brought into my life.”

While the physical tea room will remain closed, Chism plans to focus on online operations for customers nationwide. “I didn’t need to walk away completely,” she said. “I simply needed to simplify and let go of the stressful parts while keeping the pieces that bring the most joy.”

Mosaics Boutique and Tea offers more than 100 loose-leaf teas as well as tea sets and merchandise through its website. According to Chism, online sales previously made up between 30 percent and 60 percent of total business for Mosaics Boutique and Tea.

The shop ships products across the country, allowing customers outside Chicago’s Far South Side to continue purchasing their favorite teas.
