A man was robbed at gunpoint in the Fulton Market area on Thursday afternoon, according to police. The incident occurred at 4:23 p.m. in the 200 block of North Peoria Street.

Police said a 49-year-old man was standing near the sidewalk when two men approached him. One of the men displayed a gun while the other assaulted the victim. After taking his belongings, both suspects left the scene in an SUV.

The robbery was captured on video and has been widely circulated on social media platforms. The footage shows two men attacking another man outside Good Ambler, a cafe and bakery located at 216 N. Peoria St. In the video, one suspect points a gun at the victim and strikes him in the head before both suspects flee in a gray SUV.

The victim declined medical treatment after the incident, police reported. Authorities confirmed they are investigating both battery and robbery charges related to this case.

Employees at Good Ambler said they were not permitted to comment on the incident, as did lobby security staff for the building. Mondelez International, which has offices in the same building as Good Ambler, did not respond to requests for comment.

Alderman Walter Redmond Burnett (27th) stated that police informed him that the getaway vehicle used by the suspects had been stolen from outside Chicago city limits. Burnett added that he had no further information about the victim but confirmed that he was not seriously injured.
