The arrival of fall in Florida is marked not by changing leaves, but by the beginning of citrus harvesting. According to Steve Johnson, Chairman of the Florida Citrus Commission, this period reflects both hard work and a sense of optimism among growers. “We’ve worked hard all year for it, and now, Florida Citrus is ripe for the picking,” Johnson stated.
Johnson highlighted the atmosphere at the recent Florida Citrus Commission (FCC) meeting held on October 22, noting that all 11 members participated either in person or digitally. The meeting included industry partners who presented updates and recommendations through various committees of the Florida Department of Citrus.
He reminded stakeholders that there is typically no FCC meeting in November. The next scheduled meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 17 at 9:00 a.m. at the commission’s headquarters in Bartow.
Steve Johnson also serves as owner and general manager of Johnson Harvesting, Inc., located in Wauchula, Florida.
