Blues musician Buddy Guy has announced a North American summer tour in celebration of his 90th birthday. The “Buddy Guy 90 Tour” will begin on July 15 in Toronto and end on September 18 in Tulsa, featuring at least 28 performances across the continent. A notable stop includes a show at The Chicago Theatre on July 25.
Tickets for the tour will be available starting at 10 a.m. Friday. Additional ticketing details can be found online.
Guy recently won his ninth Grammy Award, earning Best Traditional Blues Album for “Ain’t Done With The Blues,” which was released last July to mark his 89th birthday. This recognition followed the conclusion of his annual residency at Buddy Guy’s Legends, the club he opened in Chicago’s South Loop in 1989.
Speaking with Block Club after receiving his latest Grammy, Guy said, “he’s just trying to keep the blues alive.”
In addition to his North American tour dates, Guy is scheduled to perform four shows in Australia this April.
