Bob’s Pizza has closed its Hyde Park location, according to executive chef Matthew Wilde, who confirmed the closure on March 23. The shop at 1518 E. Harper Court had been open for three years, offering its signature pickle pizza and beer-infused dough to customers on the South Side.

The closure of the Hyde Park shop marks the second Bob’s Pizza location to shut down in recent months. No specific date was given for when the restaurant stopped operating, and Wilde declined further comment. A sign posted in the window announced the closure but did not provide additional details.

Wilde opened the first Bob’s Pizza in Pilsen in 2019. The chain described itself as a “Pilsen-style” pizza joint with a crust that is foldable like New York-style but thicker than Sicilian-style, using Old Style beer instead of water for its dough. Wilde said in a previous interview that this term “kind of stuck.” After expanding to Old Town and Evanston before opening in Hyde Park, Bob’s Pizza closed its Evanston shop last October after four years.

Currently, both Pilsen and Old Town locations remain open and are accepting orders through Bob’s Pizza’s online platform. While Hyde Park is still listed on their website, it is no longer taking orders.
