Baggu, a bag company based in San Francisco, announced on Apr. 9 that it is planning to open a second store in Chicago, with the new location set for Lincoln Park.

The move signals continued growth for Baggu as it expands its brick-and-mortar presence beyond its first Midwest store. The company filed a permit in February for a storefront at 2118 N. Halsted St., listed under “Baggu Lincoln Park LLC.”

Details about when the new store will open have not been released. Thomas Aland, marketing coordinator with Baggu, said there is no additional information available at this time but added that the company will share updates as they become available. The news was first reported by the Sun-Times.

Fred Latsko, who owns the building where Baggu plans to open its Lincoln Park location, did not respond to requests for comment.

Baggu opened its first Midwest store in October 2024 at 1639 N. Damen Ave., located on the border of Wicker Park and Bucktown. Prior to opening this Chicago shop, Baggu had four other stores: one in Los Angeles, two in New York City and one in San Francisco.

Founded in 2007, Baggu has gained popularity for its colorful reusable bags and expanded into housewares and accessories. The brand is also known for limited-edition collaborations with artists and designers that often sell out online.

It remains unclear how the upcoming Lincoln Park location will compare or differ from Baggu’s existing Wicker Park store.
